Take a tour of North Country Nest’s guest bedroom that’s decorated for spring with neutral tones and a pop of spring color!
I’m going out on a limb – I think spring is officially here in Minnesota. I spent Monday and Tuesday outside and dare I say my face got a little burnt from that big, giant, orange thing in the sky that provides heat and vitamin D. AKA, the sun.
Even better, the snow is pretty much GONE and the lake is completely open – the dogs can attest to that 🙂
With the weather being so nice and the fact that we’re quarantined to our home, I’ve taken this opportunity to give the rooms in our house a much needed decor update. In case you missed the previous tours, you can take a look at our guest bathroom here and the fireplace here.
Today, you’re getting a tour of our guest bedroom, which if I had to pick favorites, is probably at the top of my list for spaces that I love to decorate. It could be the fact that it’s our only finished bedroom but also, because it gets an update for each season, the redecorating process has become somewhat of an art.
I love structure, I love organization and I love processes. So, of course I’ve nailed down my redecorating into a step-system that’s automatic at this point.
Up first, I strip the bed. All the pillows and sheets and blankets come off and get thrown into the washer. I then head over to the other guest bedroom which houses all the pillows and start by selecting new ones for the season. That is usually my inspiration for the color scheme of the space.
From there, I turn my attention to the floating shelves and chair, and take down the items that no longer fit. It all gets brought downstairs to the decor storage and I start ‘shopping’ for something new.
Because I have my pillows in mind, I can usually pick out floral colors along with any other knickknacks I can carry up.
Lastly, I move my attention over to the side tables. Looks a little different from past tours, huh? I mentioned this in our living room update, but after rearranging the couch and chair, we didn’t have enough space for these side tables so I did a little switcheroo and now the living room side tables live here.
They’re pretty big, which just means more space to decorate 🙂
After finalizing the side tables, I do one more once-over to make sure everything fits and then, call it a day.
Happy decorating, friends!
All our best,
