We’re sharing rustic and minimal holiday decor for the entryway and living room that is sure to inspire your home decorating!
It’s beginning to look… a little like Christmas around The Nest.
I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling the chaos more than ever this year. And when that happens, I tend to feel the pull to simplify, especially when it comes to our decor.
So, I leaned into that feeling and decided this holiday season would be all about simplifying.
Side note: If you’re looking for some more decorating inspiration, check out our guest bedroom last year, and the year before; the entryway last year and the year before.
The most exciting part of decorating this year is having a real, live stone fireplace.
Yes, friends.
She’s done.
If you’ve been hanging around for awhile, you know the fireplace was on our list last year and then #lifehappened.
Thankfully, it was moved to the top of the 2019 project list and we wrapped up the stone work towards the end of October. My new nightly routine includes enjoying a glass of wine while reading a book in front of the fire. 🙂
Circling back to the point of this post: holiday decor.
It wasn’t until I hauled up all. the. boxes. from the basement and had everything scattered in our living room that I realized I wanted to scale back this year.
Thanks to a fallen pine tree at my parent’s, I was able to snag a bag full of clippings and plop them in vases throughout the house.
And that, my friends, made up a bulk of the holiday decorating. 🙂
In the entryway, I added a few Christmas trees here and there, filled a bucket with pineconesand brought out my favorite garland.
To finish off the fireplace, I got a great deal on a new garland, threw up a few glass houses and placed my two favorite thrift store Christmas trees on either side of the hearth and called it a day.
For our Christmas tree, I again kept it nice and simple: lights, burlap ribbon as a garland, doubled up with a DIY twine and fabric garland.
I think I spent more time hauling up decor and unpacking than I actually did decorating, but such is life. 🙂
Whether your home looks like Santa’s workshop or you’re feeling the need to simplify, cheers to lots of laughter and time with family and friends this holiday season!
All our best,
