North Country Nest was born four and a half YEARS ago. I can hardly believe it’s been that long.
We started this blog as a way to share our home renovation journey with family and friends.
I was working at a local nonprofit, Brett was on the road for work quite a bit and the blog became a fun creative outlet.
I soon immersed myself in the world of blogging and realized that people didn’t just do this as a hobby – for some, it was their full time job.
My entire world shifted… and for someone who hadn’t been able to find a good ‘fit’ at a traditional 9-5, the possibilities seemed endless.
I knew blogging was a long game and wanted to find a way to become my own boss. And since patience is not even close to something I have, I decided to put my marketing skills to use and started offering to help other bloggers with their digital marketing.
Well, apparently that was the shift I needed to make – within six months I found a part-time job that was 30 minutes closer to home and was able to put even more time and energy into growing our businesses.
While my heart belonged to North Country Nest, I knew that the smartest decision would be to focus my time and energy on the business that was actually bringing in income – so, my priority shifted a little and Witt and Company became the Main Thing.
A few months later, a friend asked me to do their branding for a new venture and I absolutely fell in love with the process. All of a sudden, my heart was split between branding work at Witt and Company and blogging for North Country Nest.
When the idea of blogging as a main source of income even crossed my mind, I had this clear idea of what it would look like – and now, being able to split my time between branding work with clients and content creation for North Country Nest… Well, there is absolutely no way I could have predicted this.
Funny how life plays out, isn’t it?
Our home is similar in a lot of ways.
When we started this renovation four and half years ago, I had a clear-ish picture of what I wanted it to look like.
And now?
To see it all actually coming together – well, it’s better than I could have ever imagined.
