We met in the summer of 2012 at a resort on Lake of the Woods, Minnesota (aka true North Country). Brett was a fishing guide and had been working on the lake since he was a kid. I didn’t have a job lined up yet after college graduation and my college roommate said she was spending the summer working at her parent’s resort. I asked if they needed any more help and fortunately they did! I started Memorial Weekend and, well… the rest is history.
Fast forward three years later and here we are, buying our first house. It wasn’t a decision that we came to easily.
Last spring we started renting a townhouse and it seemed to be working just fine. It was a three bedroom, two car garage townhouse – plenty of space. Or so we thought. A few months after moving in, I got a puppy…. A few months later, Brett purchased some outdoor toys like a boat and a snowmobile. Then came September, and Brett brought his dog, Gunner, down for hunting season. Soon the townhouse, which was working just fine, started to become a little too small.
Thus began the talk of buying a house, which slowly turned into looking online, which turned into talking to a realtor, which became actually looking at houses and finally (yikes!) putting an offer in on a house. This process, which started four months ago, is coming to a close and with its end starts another beginning. And we are excited. And nervous. And slightly freaking out. But, it’s all part of the process, right?
So here we go, embarking on this renovation journey. We’ve got a long road ahead of us and a lot to learn, but in the end it will all be worth it.
All our best,
