With the guest bathroom nearly complete, it only makes sense to start the next project, right?
Friends, meet the laundry room.
What’s Already Been Done
This is a newly-created room that wasn’t in the original house. Prior to us gutting the place, the laundry was downstairs and in it’s place was a guest bedroom and bathroom.
Taking a stroll down memory lane, this is what we started with.
The bed is sitting inside what is now the main laundry room.
What was previously the guest shower and about a quarter of the bathroom, (where Brett is standing and extending left, all the way to the pipe)Â is now the closet.
After framing in the room, we added a gigantic window and moved the washer and dryer upstairs.
The good news?
We’re starting with a very, very blank canvas.
The bad news?
We’re starting with a very, very blank canvas.
The Plan
We picked out the tile last year on a trip to Builder Material Outlet – a home renovator’s heaven.
For the room, we’re wanting a cross between farmhouse, industrial and traditional.
There will be rustic/industrial shelves  over the washer and dryer, a homemade sign or two, lots of galvanized bins for storage and new light fixtures from Wayfair.
We’re going with Upward by Sherwin-Williams for the walls – it’s a beautiful dusty blue with hints of purple and gray. The trim will be Alabaster, also by Sherwin-Williams.
Since we’re all about the lists, here is what we have to look forward to:
- Install the tile floor
- Frame in the window
- Add shelves above the washer/dryer
- Add shelves to the closet
- Find and install a door
- Add baseboards
- Paint
- Install laundry tub
- Decorate (!)
Our only timeline for this room? To not last as long as the guest bathroom. Shouldn’t be too hard, right? 🙂
All our best,
