Mindfulness Challenge Day 7: Think Before You Speak

31 Days of Mindfulness· Mindfulness

It’s day 7 of the 31 Days of Mindfulness Challenge and today’s task is all about becoming present before you say something. Think before you speak because words may be forgiven, but never forgotten.

Day 7: Think Before Your Speak

“Open your mind before your mouth.”
— Unknown

Whether we like to think so or not, our words have influence. Say something nice and a day can be made, say something hurtful or negative and the opposite can happen. And it’s not just the influence words have on others but also what they can do to our own self.

Today’s to-do is simple but may not be the easiest – before anything comes out of your mouth today, think about it. From the exchange you have with the cashier when paying for gas to the way you say hello to a loved one, think before you speak.

Not only will think simple act cause you to stay present and mindful but you may find you say things without actually thinking about them. We’re creatures of habit and that includes conversations.

If you’re joining in, share with us any surprises you experienced today in the comments!

All our best,
