It’s day 30 of the 31 Days of Mindfulness Challenge and today’s task is to practice yoga for at least 20 minutes.
Day 30: Practice Yoga for 20+ Minutes
“Yoga teaches you how to listen to your body.”
— Mariel Hemingway
I started really getting into yoga after my knee surgery three (!) years ago. It’s a great low-impact activity that is challenging enough for a used-to-be runner. In the the different classes I’d attend or videos I’d watch, the instructor would talk about the breath and that we needed to focus on breathing but to be honest, it went in one ear and out the other. I remember thinking more often than not: “This hurts. Breathing isn’t going to make it hurt any less so what’s the point?”
And then I started learning about mindfulness and meditation and yoga took on a whole new meaning. I like to think of it as an active form of meditation and a great way to bring awareness to yourself.
If you’re not sure where to start, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite places to get in a good practice (for free!):
If you’re joining in, let us know how the practice went in the comments!
All our best,
