It’s day 29 of the 31 Days of Mindfulness Challenge and today’s task is to spend 20 minutes journaling.

Day 29: End the Day With 20 Minutes of Journaling

“Journaling offers a way to unburden your mind, keep dreams alive and spark the seed of creativity.”
— Unknown

Raise your hand if you kept a diary when you were growing up? The one that I remember had Spice Girls on the cover and came with a lock. I was pretty consistent with writing in it until I lost the key… and that pretty much ended my writing hobby until this past year. A lot of the podcasts that I listened to would mention here and there the benefits of writing in a journal but it wasn’t until I started working with a business coach that I really picked up the habit and started to reap the benefits.

Whether you’re wanting to start a gratitude journal or just write whatever is on your mind, the habit of journaling has some pretty amazing benefits. Not only is it a great way to reduce stress but it is also been known to boost your immune system, keep your memory in tip-top shape and improve your overall mood.

In getting started, the hardest part for me was not knowing what to write about. Looking back, it seems silly but if I was going to spend time sitting and writing, I to get the most out of it. If you’re in the same boat, I’ve rounded up a few resources for journaling prompts – scroll through these and pick a few that grab your attention and see where your mind takes you.

Since journaling is such a relaxing activity, before you head for bed tonight, set a timer for 20 minutes, pick a prompt (or branch out on your own!) and write.

If you’re joining in, let us know if this is a habit you’ll stick with in the comments!

All our best,
