It’s day 26 of the 31 Days of Mindfulness Challenge and today’s task is to get away from the day-to-day hustle and bustle.

Day 26: Get Away From the Day-to-Day

“I took a walk in the woods and came out taller than the trees.”
— Henry David Thoreau

It’s the weekend and today’s challenge is an easy one: get away from the day-to-day hustle and bustle. Whether it’s just for a few hours or you opt for an entire day trip, the point is to find someplace new or different, preferably outside.

We talked about this on day 9 – there’s no better way to practice mindfulness than when you’re outside, taking in all things nature. If you’re like us and it’s a little too chilly to be outside (no one likes frostbite), try finding something indoors that’s outside the norm. Is there an indoor destination you can head to that offers some peace and quiet?

And if heading out just isn’t in the cards, what can you do within the comfort of your own home that’ll create the same feeling? Maybe it’s taking a bath without distractions, maybe it’s tagging in your spouse to keep the kiddos occupied for an hour while you read a book or journal. We all need time to decompress and the weekend is the perfect time to wind down!

If you’re joining in, let us know how you ‘got away’ in the comments!

All our best,
