It’s day 17 of the 31 Days of Mindfulness Challenge and today’s task is to pick up a new hobby.
Day 17: Try a New Hobby
“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.”
— Neal Donald Walsch
When I first added today’s challenge onto the list, my immediate thought was, “Nope, not gonna happen. I can’t even find the time to do the hobbies I have, let alone find a new one.”
Friends, hear me out. I get it. Life’s busy. There’s a million and one other things to do. And, what would a challenge be without something that’s a little, you know, challenging? 😛
If you remember back to a time when you started something new, you’ll recall how attentive and aware you were. When we do things that are unfamiliar, we pay attention. It’s unknown territory and our brains need to work a little to complete the task. After awhile, activities can go in autopilot mode, but when we’re first starting out, we have to mindfully aware of what we’re doing.
Hobby doesn’t have to mean going out and learning how to knit an entire blanket. It could mean trying a new genre of recipes if you genuinely like to cook or maybe test out a new woodworking tool if that’s more your style. The idea being, you’re trying something NEW.
If you’re joining in, let us know what you tried out in the comments!
All our best,
