It’s day 11 of the 31 Days of Mindfulness Challenge and today’s task is to cut out distraction during all conversations and be present.

Day 11: Be Present for Every Conversation You Have

“Wherever you are, be all there.”
— Jim Elliot

In today’s world, staying present during an entire conversation may seem like quite the feat. From cell phones to tablets to smartwatches, the distractions are seemingly endless.

And it’s not just in regards to our every day conversations with our spouse or loved one, but also with the people we come into contact with throughout the day. Going out to eat? When you’re ordering, are you actually looking at the server and chatting with them or haphazardly saying something while checking your email?

This one isn’t going to be easy – for most of us, it’s an automatic reaction to continue what we’re doing (reading a book, scrolling Facebook, watching TV) while also trying to hold a conversation.

But.

But that person deserves our full attention, right? From your spouse to your kids to the cashier at the gas station – they are all deserving of our 100% undivided attention.

Good luck and happy chatting!

If you’re joining in, let us know what you struggled with most (or if this one was easy breezy!) in the comments!

All our best,
