July 2016 Recap

Lifestyle

29 Jul

So here we are again, another month almost gone, in what seems like the blink of an eye.

What we’re excited about:

>> I finished the painting the hutch and to hang it on the wall, Brett came up wit the brilliant plan to have the top sit on two pieces of scrap wood for extra support. That baby isn’t going anywhere.

>> We had a few extra cement blocks laying around so we decided to put them to good use and made a bar for the patio. It took about twenty minutes to throw together and I LOVE it.

>> The North Country Nest Book Club is all caught up and I shared with you some great reads from May and June!

>> We finally got about 90 percent of the walls sheetrocked and we added doors to the office, guest bathroom and mudroom. Unfortunately, all the doors were defective so we’re in the process of talking with the manufacturers to get them exchanged.

>> I was invited to participate in a blog hop with some amazingly talented bloggers sponsored by At Home. We were challenged to ‘Bring Summer Indoors’ and show off some decor ideas. I made up a great tablescape for the dining room.

>> I scoured the internet to find some great and affordable farmhouse decor finds. It took an extreme amount of restraint to not buy them all!

>> I realized that we haven’t shown much of the outdoors so we shared some garden photos and a fun story about my love-hate relationship with all things plants.

>> Staying true to the budget-friendly wedding we are determined to plan, I shared some great bridal consignment stores around the Twin Cities area.

What we’d like to forget:

>> July was one of the most humid months I can remember in quite some time. And we just happen to not have any air conditioning in our house. If you’re looking for a good time, try sheetrocking a ceiling when it’s 107 degrees outside and hovering over the cusp of hell inside a house with no AC. Or, you can take my word for it when I say hot is an understatement.

>> Our roof leaked and we found out the entire thing needs to be replaced. The silver lining is that this was the first big “oh shit” moment since moving in five months ago.

>> We put in an application for a building permit for the attached garage and found out we have to apply for a variance. The next meeting we will be eligible to go to is September 8. Which means we wait.

It was one heck of a month but I cannot wait to see what August has in store for us!

All our best,

Signature
