Friday Nesting 11/10

Lifestyle

11 Nov

Friday story.

We’ve had a week to let this sink in and now we can laugh it off and talk about it. I mean, it’s no big deal, but we had to change our wedding date.

Here’s what happened. Last week I called the only hotel in Cambridge, Minnesota to book a block of rooms for our guests. I told the receptionist the date and in less than two seconds she said, “Oh, we’re all booked. It’s Hay Days.” Having no clue what that was, I calmly said okay and hung up the phone. I then called the hotel in North Branch, the next town over, which is still about a twenty minute drive. She actually laughed and said, “Oh no, we booked three years ago. You literally picked the worst weekend to have a wedding if you need a hotel.”

Three years? What the heck is going on?

Apparently Hay Days is where thousands of snowmobilers get together to drag race on hay and there’s a swap meet and other entertainment over the course of two days.

After calling the church and the venue and the priest, we settled on the end of August.

Nothing like a little change in the midst of the One Room Challenge and hunting and the normal life happenings. We do like to keep things exciting around here and we’ve had no shortage of that these past few weeks!

Friday finds.

Since we’ve surpassed Halloween, I now feel like it’s socially acceptable to share my latest Christmas décor finds. These babies will bring Christmas cheer to any household and best of all, you’ll still have enough money left over for all the gifts you need to buy.
