Hello, friends!
Today we’re talking books and showing off some DIY projects you can easily tackle to incorporate them into your decor repertoire.
You see, contrary to popular belief, books can be used for more than just reading or collecting dust. They’re multifaceted items that shouldn’t be judged by their cover (I had to).
Five Ways to Decorate Using Books

Idea One. The ‘ole staple. Cover them up in brown kraft paper, stack in a set of three and wrap them in twine. Rustic and refined, all rolled into one.
Idea two. Did you know you can spray paint books? Honestly, it wasn’t until about a month ago that the idea occured to me. I’ve always associated defacing a book as one of those cardinal sins, right up there with infidelity and not sharing the best bite of salted caramel ice cream. I realized that if you choose a book that has an ugly cover, you’re really doing it a favor. The color below is Catalina Mist by Krylon.
Idea three. This one is bursting at the seams with farmhouse charm; make a magnolia-style book page wreath. While slightly tedious, the result is fabulous and it’s surprisingly easy to make! Click here for the tutorial.
Idea four. If you haven’t DIY’ed a banner yet, now is the time. This one is quick and painless and not nearly as time consuming as the magnolia wreath. Click here for the full tutorial.
Idea five. This one might be favorite. Grab a frame, rip out some books pages, glue them down and paint on a stencil. Naturally, I chose a deer silhouette 🙂
Do you have any ideas that didn’t make the list? We’d love to hear about them below!
